Helvi Sandvik is the president of NANA Development Corporation (NDC), with the dual responsibility of working to fulfill NANA’s commitment to providing career opportunities for its shareholders and to grow NDC into a multi-billion dollar revenue corporation. Helvi is originally from the village of Kiana in the NANA region. She came to NANA in 1995, after 12 years with the State of Alaska Department of Transportation where she served as transportation planner, director of statewide aviation, and finally deputy commissioner.
At NANA, Helvi rose to the rank of president after serving NANA in various other senior level positions. As vice president of operations for NANA Development Corporation, she was responsible for the operation of various NANA business units and for identifying new business opportunities. As vice president of resources for NANA Regional Corporation, she oversaw resource development projects on NANA lands and evaluated new development opportunities.
Helvi has been extensively involved in the community, serving as past chairman of the board of directors for the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce and as a former board member for the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority, Alaska Energy Authority and United Way.
In 2004, she
served as one of seven conferees of the “Conference of
Alaskans” and was inducted into the Anchorage Athena
Society. In 2007 she was honored as a Laureate in the Junior
Achievement Alaska Business Hall of Fame.
Helvi currently serves on the Alaska State Chamber of
Commerce Executive Committee, is a trustee for the Aqqaluk
Trust, and chairs the Seattle branch of the Federal Reserve
Bank of San Francisco. She received her Bachelor of Science
in economics from Kalamazoo College in Michigan and her
master’s degree in business administration from the
University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Dave is the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the NANA Development Corporation and has substantial experience in the senior management of a large company and at the cabinet level of state government. He has been involved in the development of Alaska’s natural resources for over 30 years. He has served at the executive level of a Fortune 50 company ---participating in the overall management of the company, and leading teams of lawyers, landmen, and external affairs professionals, and health, safety, security and environmental quality practitioners. He has served as the Attorney General of Alaska, as one of six Trustees for the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation overseeing the investment of the Fund (then valued at over 30 billion dollars), and as one of three state Trustees, along with three federal Trustees, overseeing the management of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill fund (then valued at over 140 million dollars). He is a Rotarian and has served on the boards and executive committees of many non-profit corporations including serving as chair of the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement of Alaska. As COO of NANA Development Corporation, he is responsible for managing and monitoring the business operations of the corporation and all its subsidiaries.
